Stratford Swimming Pool, located on McMillan Street in Stratford, is one of Wellington Shire's outdoor seasonal swimming pools. The pool is operated by Wellington Shire Council and offers a variety of amenities and services for the community to enjoy.
The 2023-24 Outdoor Pool Season officially commences on Saturday 25 November, with operating hours varying between off-peak and peak season. During off-peak season, which runs from 24 November to 15 December 2023 and from 29 January to 11 March 2024, the pool is open on weekdays from 4pm to 7pm and on weekends and public holidays from 10. 30am to 6pm.
In peak season, which runs from 16 December 2023 to 28 January 2024, the pool offers extended hours on weekdays from 11am to 7pm. It is important to note that during peak season, the pool will be open from 12pm to 3pm every day, regardless of the temperature and forecast. This ensures that community members have guaranteed hours to enjoy the pool.
The opening of the outdoor pool is dependent on the temperature forecast for Sale, as issued by the Bureau of Meteorology at 4pm on the previous day. If the forecast predicts a temperature of 25 degrees celsius or higher, the pool will open for public swimming. However, lap swimming sessions at Maffra, Sale, and Yarram Outdoor Pools are not temperature-dependent and are available from 6am to 8am on weekdays (excluding public holidays).
Entry fees for Stratford Swimming Pool are as follows: adult single session entry costs $7. 30, child (5-15 years) entry costs $4. 90, and a family/group pass for two adults and two children costs $19. 50.
Concession entry is priced at $5. 80. For those who wish to visit the pool frequently, a 10-session pool pass is available for $65. 70 for adults, $52 for concession holders, and $44.
10 for children. Families can also opt for a season pass, which is valid for 15 weeks and costs $122 for adults, $81. 60 for children, $203 for families, and $98. 10 for concession holders.
Parents and guardians should be aware that all Wellington swimming pools, including Stratford Swimming Pool, operate under the “Watch around Water” policy. This means that children under 5 years old must be within arm's reach of a responsible adult at all times, and children 10 years old and under must be constantly supervised by a responsible adult. Unsupervised children will not be allowed to remain in the water, and the responsible adult must be at least 16 years old.
