For families with kids, the nearby Strand Water Park is a popular attraction. The water park offers slides, water cannons, and other interactive water features for kids to enjoy. Visitors to the water park can also take advantage of facilities such as children's playgrounds, toilets, BBQ/picnic facilities, and outdoor showers.

Opening hours for the Strand Water Park vary throughout the year, with extended hours during the summer months. The water park is closed every Tuesday for maintenance, excluding public school holidays.

It's worth noting that stinger nets are installed at many of Townsville's beaches, including The Strand (north and south), Pallarenda, Balgal Beach, Horseshoe Bay, and Picnic Bay. These nets are in place during the stinger season, which runs from November to May, and are removed once no stingers are caught in daily net drags for 14 consecutive days.

Additionally, Townsville's beaches are accessible to wheelchairs, prams, and strollers through the use of beach access mats. These mats are available at The Strand every Friday from 10:30am to Saturday 3pm, as well as for special events on the beach in front of Strand Park. Currently, there are no beach mats available at Pallarenda.
