St Peter's Swimming Club

St Peter's Swimming Club, located in Cambridge, is a swim club catering to young learners and National Champions. With a focus on helping swimmers qualify and excel in major open New Zealand swimming teams, such as the Pan Pacific Championships, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, and Olympic Games, the club is dedicated to developing talented swimmers.

One of the club's standout features is its state-of-the-art facilities. St Peter's Swimming Club boasts a 10 lane, 25-metre outdoor pool that is heated year-round, allowing swimmers to train no matter the weather. In addition, senior swimmers also have access to the 50-metre pool at Perry Pool in Cambridge during the summer months, providing them with the opportunity to prepare for national long course meets in April. Land-based training is also a part of the club's programme, with senior swimmers attending gym sessions at the St Peter's School Gym, led by a specialist team.

The club's Club House is another valuable asset. Situated at the end of the indoor Learn to Swim pool, it offers full kitchen facilities and serves as a space for swimmers to study before and after training, as well as a warm gathering place for parents and siblings. Meetings can also be held in the Club House.

St Peter's Swimming Club offers a variety of training squads designed to cater to swimmers of all levels. Their main focus is on technique, skill perfection, and long-term athlete development. The squad programmes range from junior swimmers to performance swimmers who have shown potential and have a desire to achieve at a high level. Squads include STP Development Squad, Regional Development Squad, Regional Performance Squad, National Silver Squad, National Gold Squad, and Senior Performance Squad.

In addition to its pool programme, the club also has a strong open water swim team. Their swimmers regularly participate in events held at lakes and beaches throughout the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. The club takes pride in sending a large team, consisting of swimmers at all levels, to the NZ Open Water Championships and Epic Swim held annually at Lake Taupo.

St Peter's Swimming Club has partnered with Arena NZ, a leading supplier of uniforms and pool equipment, ensuring that their swimmers have access to quality gear.

Volunteers and parent help play an integral role in the success of St Peter's Swimming Club. The club requires volunteers for every swim meet, including roles such as Timekeepers and Team Managers.
