

Wood in North London on 22nd May 1814. He played for Hertfordshire against a United All England XI on the same ground two days earlier.
In the early years, the club went through a series of name changes before settling on St. Margaretsbury Cricket Club. The club is now based in the small village of Stanstead Abbotts in Hertfordshire.
St. Margaretsbury Cricket Club is affiliated to the Hertfordshire County Cricket Association, the Club Cricket Conference, and is a member of the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League. The club's senior teams compete in the Saracens Hertfordshire top Cricket League, with four senior XI's playing on Saturdays and one senior XI playing on Sundays for friendly and competition matches. The club also fields an Academy XI for friendly matches.
The club has a highly successful junior section, catering to young cricketers at various age groups, including U10, U11, U12, U13, U16, and U17. The junior teams participate in the Ashurst Hertfordshire Junior Leagues. In recognition of the club's dedication to the development of young cricketers, St. Margaretsbury Cricket Club was awarded Clubmark by the England and Wales Cricket Board in 2005 and was re-accredited in 2021.
