In addition to regular training, the Steve Martin Fighting Arts Academy hosts annual seminars with world-class JKD instructors. These seminars provide an invaluable opportunity for students to learn from and train with renowned instructors such as Bob Breen, Terry Barnett, and Daniel Lonero. The academy also actively participates in seminars hosted by other organisations, broadening the students' exposure and experiences.
The academy takes pride in their diverse and vibrant community, which is evident in their gallery of pictures showcasing their regular practise sessions as well as seminars they have hosted and attended. This gallery serves as a testament to the academy's commitment to fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for all members.
The academy is led by Steve Martin, a highly experienced and dedicated instructor. Steve's martial arts journey began in 1979, when he joined a local Shotokan Karate club. After achieving his black belt in Karate, he attended seminars in London where he discovered the world of JKD Concepts, Kali, and Filipino martial arts. Intrigued and inspired, Steve transitioned his focus to JKD and began training with notable instructors such as Dan Inosanto, Larry Hartsell, Rick Faye, Paul Vunak, and many others.
Alongside his training, Steve also became heavily involved in self-defence and reality-based training.
Although he briefly stepped away from training and teaching due to other commitments, Steve's passion for JKD never wavered. In 2003, he returned to training with renewed dedication and reopened his club, attracting both old and new students. Over the years, Steve has acquired numerous qualifications, including black belts in Shotokan Karate, instructorship in Integrated Arts under Guru Terry Barnett, instructorship under Guru Bob Breen, instructorship under Guru Paul Vunak, and full instructorship under Guru John Koeshall in the Thru-The Fire Association.
At the Steve Martin Fighting Arts Academy, students have the opportunity to learn from Steve's wealth of knowledge and experience. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced martial artist, the academy welcomes you to join their community and embark on your own martial arts journey.
