St Edmundsbury Sailing & Canoeing Association (SESCA) is a friendly and inclusive club located in Bury St Edmunds, West Suffolk. SESCA is situated at Lackford Lake, just 5 miles northwest of Bury St Edmunds. The lake is a converted flooded gravel pit and is surrounded by a beautiful nature reserve and trout fishing lake. It provides a picturesque setting for water sports activities and offers a safe and enjoyable environment for members.
The club operates from the last weekend in March to the end of November, with organised safety boat cover available on weekends from 10. 00 am to 6. 00 pm. Outside these times, members can still engage in sailing and paddling activities through a buddy system, ensuring there are always at least two adult members present.
At SESCA, safety is a top priority. There are two rescue boats available, and all members are required to wear buoyancy aids when on the water and pontoons. The club takes measures to minimise risk and ensure that members can enjoy their activities with peace of mind.
Facilities at the club include a large grassed dinghy park and ample free car parking. The clubhouse offers changing rooms with toilets and showers, as well as a mess room with a veranda and kitchen facilities. It provides a comfortable space for members to relax and socialise after their time on the water.
