Stagecoach Performing Arts Torquay and Newton Abbot, located in Torquay, New Zealand, is a renowned performing arts group and dance school. Established in April 1996, the school has a dedicated team of teachers who prioritise building life skills and confidence in their students, all while ensuring a fun and enjoyable experience.
Weekly classes are available for children aged 4–6 years, as well as for those aged 6–18 years and 15+. These classes cover various disciplines of musical theatre, including singing, dancing, and drama. Students have the opportunity to learn new skills, nurture their talents, and develop their potential in each area.
The school's Early Stages classes are designed specifically for young children aged 4–6 years. These classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools and provide a seamless transition to the next stage of learning. Each class lasts for 90 minutes and takes place at Torquay Boys' Grammar School, Coombeshead Academy, and Stover School.
Main Stages classes cater to students aged 6–18 years and are split into age-appropriate groups. These classes further develop skills in singing, dancing, and drama, while also fostering confidence and channelling energy. Students are encouraged to explore their potential and express themselves creatively. Main Stages classes run for 3 hours each week at Torquay Boys' Grammar School, Coombeshead Academy, and Stover School.
Stagecoach Torquay and Newton Abbot also offers Further Stages classes for students aged 15+ years. These advanced musical theatre sessions focus on extending performance skills through in-depth training and master classes. Students are equipped with the confidence to audition for theatre and vocational drama schools, if desired, and are well-prepared for interviews and auditions.
In addition to their regular classes, the school also organises holiday workshops and themed children's parties. These workshops provide an opportunity for students to further explore their creativity and immerse themselves in the world of performing arts.
