Stagecoach Performing Arts Colchester, led by Principal Caroline Maxwell for 25 successful years, is a performing arts group and dance school in Colchester. They offer a wide range of drama, dance, and singing classes where students work hard to achieve high standards while having fun and enjoying themselves.
Stagecoach Colchester presents two shows each year for families and friends to appreciate. One demonstration of classwork takes place at the end of the Autumn term, while the second in July showcases a rehearsed piece of musical theatre complete with costumes and lighting. Unlike many performing arts schools, Stagecoach does not require auditions for new students; all that is needed is enthusiasm, commitment, and a passion for performing arts.
The school not only focuses on teaching performing arts skills but also offers Performing Arts Exams for interested students. This provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their progress and receive recognised qualifications in their chosen disciplines.
Under Caroline's professional guidance, Stagecoach Colchester provides weekly classes for children of age groups 4-6 years, 6–18 years, and 15+. The early stages classes for ages 4–6 years run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, allowing young people to learn skills in singing, dancing, and drama. This seamless transition makes it easier for them to progress to the next stage in their performing arts journey.
The main stages classes for ages 6–18 years are split into age-appropriate groups, where students learn new skills in singing, dancing, and drama. Stagecoach aims to nurture the shy and apprehensive students while developing and channelling the talents, confidence, and energy of those with natural abilities. They strongly believe in the potential of every child and strive to help them discover their talents and grow.
For students aged 15 and above, Stagecoach offers further stages classes that focus on advanced musical theatre training. These sessions provide talented students with opportunities to extend their performance skills through in-depth training, master classes, and exploration of singing, dancing, and acting techniques.
At Stagecoach Performing Arts Colchester, the safety and well-being of the students are of utmost importance. Every member of their dedicated team is Enhanced DBS checked, ensuring that your child is in safe hands.
