Welcome to Sport Taekwondo Ireland, a proud member of The Irish Taekwondo Union (ITU), affiliated with World Taekwondo Ireland, the governing body for Olympic Taekwondo. Our gym offers classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Trinity Comprehensive School in Ballymun. With some of the most experienced Taekwondo instructors in Ireland, we teach the Olympic Sport and Korean Martial Art of Taekwondo. All our instructors are registered black belts with World Taekwondo, ensuring the highest standard of training in both traditional and competitive (Olympic) Taekwondo sparring.
Led by Senior Coach John Kelly, who brings over 40 years of coaching experience at both local and international levels, our gym provides top-quality training for both children and adults of all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners. Located in Trinity Comprehensive School Ballymun, we cater to students from Ballymun and surrounding areas such as Finglas, Glasnevin, and Santry. Our Taekwondo team is known for its success and reputation in competitions across Ireland and abroad.
Taekwondo, a Korean martial art and Olympic sport, traces its roots back to ancient Korean arts. Translating to “Way of Hands and Feet,” Taekwondo was officially adopted as the name for the martial art in 1955. The ITU acts as the national governing body for Olympic Taekwondo in Ireland, while World Taekwondo serves as the international federation governing the sport.
