Splashers Swimming Academy is a renowned swimming school located in Rugeley, New Zealand. With a focus on providing a safe and happy environment, the academy is committed to meeting the needs of all individuals.
Splashers Swimming Academy was established in 1995 at Netherstowe with the aim of offering a different approach to swimming lessons. Recognising the importance of good technique, the academy strives to ensure that swimmers develop proper skills from the beginning. By mastering technique on short distances, swimmers can achieve maximum propulsion and minimise resistance, enabling them to excel in swimming with speed and distance. Swimming is a lifelong sport that can be enjoyed at any age, making it a crucial life skill.
At Splashers, the academy believes in balancing fun with safety and respect for water. Children are taught how to enjoy water while also learning how to stay safe and protect themselves and others in and around water. This knowledge instils confidence and ensures a positive swimming experience.
Splashers Swimming Academy offers a variety of classes for all ages and abilities. Whether a beginner or a competitive swimmer, there is a class suitable for everyone. The academy proudly holds the Swim England Core stages 1-7 awards, as well as competitive swimming awards for ages 8-10.
The academy keeps its students and parents informed through a notice board, sharing news and updates. It recently shared positive news regarding the expected reopening of the pool at Netherstowe School in 2024. This development is eagerly awaited, and the academy hopes to resume classes before the summer holidays.

The academy follows certain terms and conditions to ensure a smooth swimming experience. All swimming lessons must be paid for by the advertised collection dates, and any rescheduled lessons due to pool closure will be arranged. If a swimmer needs to change their group time, the academy should be notified via email or text.
Swimmers are expected to arrive 5 minutes before their lessons and be ready to be called through by a staff member. Changing rooms should be cleared within 15 minutes, and separate male and female changing rooms are provided for those above the age of 8. Talcum powder is not allowed in the changing rooms due to school regulations. Children must remain in the changing rooms until the previous groups have finished their lessons and returned to the changing rooms, and the corridor should always be kept clear.
The academy emphasises the responsibility of parents or guardians for the safety and behaviour of their children. If an adult needs to leave the premises, they must inform the academy and provide an emergency contact number. Children under the age of 8 cannot be left unattended. It is important for parents to bring any necessary medical requirements such as inhalers or epi-pens, which should be administered by the parent or guardian.
Swimmers with long hair must tie it back or wear a hat, and only approved medical identification and certain ear-studs are allowed as jewellery.
Splashers Swimming Academy values the participation of everyone and has created a positive and inclusive environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities. By prioritising safety, technique, and enjoyment, the academy aims to foster a lifelong love for swimming and the water.
