The Petrie Island Canoe Club will be hosting a Canoeing event for individuals with intellectual disabilities as part of the Special Olympics Paddling Program. This is a fantastic opportunity for participants to get involved in the sport of Canoe Kayak, whether they are looking for a recreational activity or a chance to compete at various levels.
The program, supported by Canoe Kayak Canada, aims to create a welcoming environment for athletes, with a strong focus on inclusivity and support. Coached by experienced instructors, participants can look forward to engaging paddling sessions taking place every Tuesday from July 2 to August 23, 2024.
To join in on the fun, interested athletes will need to pay a registration fee of $240, which covers regatta fees, insurance, and a CKO Sprint membership. There is also an option to purchase a racing singlet for $65. In the event of weather cancellations, make-up sessions will be scheduled for Friday evenings that same week.
For those keen to learn more about participating in regattas, they can reach out to coach Sarah Kennedy for further information. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to get involved in the world of Canoeing at Petrie Island Canoe Club!
