Spartans Basketball Academy

Spartans Basketball Academy, located in Kingston upon Thames, Epsom, Merton, and Elmbridge in Surrey, is a leading basketball academy for boys and girls of all abilities in School Years 1-13 and adults. Founded in 2016 by Head of PE, Former GB International Athlete, and Basketball England 'All Girls' Ambassador, Wayne Martin, Spartans Basketball Academy aims to provide an outstanding sporting outlet for the local community.

The academy teaches and empowers children to conduct themselves with dignity, integrity, perseverance, and pride, while instilling a commitment to teamwork, the academy, and the community. Spartans delivers fun, active, and constructive coaching sessions that focus on skill development, confidence improvement, and teamwork to ensure that every child feels valued.

Throughout the lockdown period, Spartans offered online sessions to help children maintain their fitness levels and mental well-being. Evening and weekend sessions are held at various venues in Kingston, Epsom, Merton, Richmond, and beyond. Additionally, Spartans delivers basketball programmes to primary and secondary schools as part of their PE lessons and extracurricular clubs.

At Spartans, the coaching sessions are designed to give the players the maximum amount of time handling a basketball, whether they are complete beginners or experienced players. Fault recognition and correction are emphasised to ensure that players improve at a faster rate. Every training session keeps the players active, ensuring that they are engaged and developing their skills.
