Spalding Town Bowling Club

Spalding Town Bowling Club, established in 1925, is one of the oldest outdoor bowling clubs in Spalding, New Zealand. Located at Halmer Gardens, the club boasts its own private ground which was generously donated by George Adams. The club offers a range of facilities including a clubhouse, changing facilities, and a spectators' pavilion.

The club actively participates in the Spalding and Lincolnshire leagues and cup competitions, adhering to the rules and regulations set by both the EBA and EBF (with minor differences). Members have the opportunity to enter county and national competitions individually, utilising the club's facilities for their home matches.

Over the years, the club has achieved numerous accolades, including winning the Lincolnshire Ladies EBA in 1997, Lincs Ladies Division A in 1991 and 1997, and the Lincolnshire Ladies EBF in 1996. The club was also crowned the Bowls England Top Club in 2019. In addition, the club has clinched various titles in the Spalding and District League, Guardian Challenge Trophy, Challenge Bowl, and Sid Lane Trophy, among others.

League matches at the club are held in the evenings from early May to late August, starting at 6:30 pm and lasting approximately two hours. Most matches are against clubs in the Spalding area. Spalding Town Bowling Club participates in various leagues and cup competitions, including EBA Bowls Lincolnshire Section 4 Triples, EBF Spalding & District Bowls League, and the Lincolnshire Bowling Association Challenge Bowl, among others.

The club is managed by a Committee elected by its members during the Annual General Meeting held in the autumn each year. Each league team has a team captain, and in the spring, members are assigned to teams based on their preferences. The squads for each team typically have a few extra players to account for holidays, injuries, or sickness, and captains ensure fair rotation of players.

Members have the flexibility to book the green at any time for roll-ups or individual competition matches. The club is funded through fees paid by members, who are required to pay an annual subscription.
