South West Phoenix Soccer Club, established in 2001 as South West Phoenix FC, is a State League Football club located in Bunbury, Western Australia. The club has a long and proud history of successfully competing in Football West's Metropolitan State League Competitions.
The club's name originated from a competition in the local Bunbury-based newspaper, The South-West Times. In their inaugural season, the club entered the WA State League Division 1 and finished 6th. In 2010, the club's name was changed to Bunbury Forum Force due to sponsorship arrangements. The following year, they won their first Division 1 title and were then promoted to the WA leading League for the 2012 season.
They finished 9th and 7th in their two seasons in the top League.
However, due to lack of facilities, the club was not selected as one of the initial 12 teams in the newly formed National top Leagues WA for the 2014 season. As a result, they reverted to their original name, South West Phoenix FC, in 2015 after their sponsorship arrangements expired.
South West Phoenix is the state representative club of the South West region and offers talented players from the area the opportunity to compete at a high level without having to relocate to the metropolitan area. This status is fundamental to the continued success of the club.
In 2016, South West Phoenix entered into a new era as they relocated to their new purpose-built facilities at Hay Park South. This relocation marked an exciting chapter for the club. The same year, the club's juniors also entered the National leading League, providing them with the opportunity to compete at the highest level of football competition. This move further strengthened the club's position in providing elite pathways for talented junior soccer players in the South West region.
South West Phoenix Soccer Club is proud to be the only club outside the metropolitan area to obtain an NPL licence. The club's junior teams are highly competitive in this competition, with the South West Phoenix U13s leading the way.
At South West Phoenix, we recognise that our continued success relies on developing better coaches, strengthening our elite junior player pathways, and building stronger connexions with the local community-based football clubs.
