About

The Southland Ski Club Inc. , established in 1933, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting snow sports. Conveniently located below the base buildings at Coronet Peak, the club-owned and operated lodge is available to members, schools, and other community groups. The lodge offers accommodation, meals, lift passes, ski lessons, and gear hire at a reasonable rate during the winter school holidays, all under full supervision.

The club is closely monitoring and adhering to COVID-19 guidelines set by the Ministry of Health for the 2023 season.

Membership of the Southland Ski Club is open to individuals living in the Southland region or those who can prove strong links to Southland with the discretion of the committee. To become a member, simply submit an application, and upon acceptance, payment details will be provided. Membership is valid for the season once payment is received.

Fees for the 2023 season are determined at the annual AGM in March and may be subject to change. The fees will be announced on the club's website and social media platforms in early April. The fee structure includes categories for junior, adult/senior, couple, and family memberships. Additional fees are applicable for lodge accommodations, with different rates for adult/seniors, juniors/students, and children under 5 years old.

Group rates are available for gatherings of over 15 people, such as school or community groups.

For a truly immersive skiing experience, guests can stay in the Southland Ski Club's lodge on the mountain. The lodge can accommodate up to 38 guests and operates on a self-catering basis, requiring guests to clean up after themselves. The lodge provides four bunkrooms, a full kitchen, bathroom facilities, and a lounge/dining area. By staying in the lodge, guests can avoid the stress of early morning drives on icy roads and enjoy the convenience of being just a short walk away from the ski lifts.

Shuttle buses are also available for transportation. Guests have the flexibility to return to the lodge for lunch or finish early for the day.

Please note that the lodge has specific check-in and check-out times to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation. Check-in is available from 3pm onwards, and check-out is at 10am, unless prior arrangements have been made with the custodians. The lodge is well-maintained and kept clean, warm, and inviting by the resident custodians, Denis and Lynelle Woods.

Choose the Southland Ski Club for a fantastic ski resort experience at Coronet Peak. Enjoy the thrill of skiing, excellent accommodation facilities, and the friendly hospitality of the club's members. Join today and become part of a vibrant and passionate snow sports community.
