The South Island Volleyball Association, located in Victoria, was founded in the summer of 2006 by Andrew Schopp with the aim of providing new volleyball opportunities to the Greater Victoria community. Starting with small adult leagues and tournaments at Reynolds Park, the club expanded to include indoor adult leagues and youth programs through a partnership with Saanich Recreation. In 2011, Chris Abra took over the club, continuing to grow and enhance the programming while upholding the legacy set forth by Andrew.
Over the years, South Island Volleyball has become a well-known and respected organization in the Victoria Volleyball Community. In 2021, Chris Abra passed the torch to the team at Rex Sports, bringing a new energy and commitment to the club. The club continues to thrive under their leadership, providing high-quality programs and fostering a love for the sport of volleyball in the community.
The club offers a variety of programs for players of all ages and skill levels, including camps, skill development leagues, and adult leagues. These programs provide a fun and competitive environment for players to improve their skills and enjoy the game of volleyball. With a focus on teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development, South Island Volleyball aims to provide a positive and inclusive experience for all participants.
