Welcome to Southill Livery, a top horse riding school located in Chester-le-Street on the Southill Estate. Surrounded by breathtaking countryside, our livery centre offers top-notch facilities for both horses and riders. Conveniently situated near Durham, Newcastle, and Sunderland, we provide easy access for equestrian enthusiasts of all levels.

Our stables are designed to cater to the needs of every type of horse. From pony boxes to foaling stables, we offer a variety of sizes and types of stabling. You can choose between American barn type stables or conventional freestanding stables, available in different block sizes. Each stable yard includes amenities such as car parks, feed stores, alarms, secure tack rooms, and direct access to grazing, arenas, rides, and jumps.

At Southill Livery, we take great pride in our extensive grazing fields. Livery customers have access to spacious fields, with separate areas for mares and geldings during both summer and winter. Our grazing fields are managed organically, ensuring they are free from sprays or artificial fertilisers.

Our state-of-the-art arenas are available for livery customers to use at their convenience. We offer both indoor and outdoor floodlit arenas, providing year-round riding opportunities. The largest indoor arena measures 32 × 15 metres and features a plastic chip surface, viewing area, mirrors, and sprinkler system. Our largest external all-weather floodlit arena measures 45 × 25 metres and has a plastic chip and sand surface.

Both arenas are equipped with jumps and schooling accessories. During the summer months, we also provide a separate area with a selection of show jumps.

As a Southill Livery customer, you will have exclusive access to over 12 miles of off-road riding trails across our beautiful estate. These trails take you through farmland, woods, and along the banks of the River Wear. For those seeking an adventurous ride, we offer river crossings, numerous cross-country jumps, and training gallops.

Unfortunately, our jumps page is currently under construction, but we assure you that we have a wide range of jumps available for riders of all levels.
