Taekwon-do is an ancient Korean martial art that originated approximately 2000 years ago as a form of unarmed combat. The name itself carries significant meaning, as "Tae” stands for jumping or kicking, "Kwon” symbolises the fist, and “Do” represents the art or way. Today, Taekwon-do has become the most widely practised martial art worldwide.
At Southern Cross Taekwon-do Botany, students engage in dynamic techniques of unarmed combat, primarily for self-defence purposes. The school emphasises the importance of never using these powerful techniques offensively, nurturing values such as courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit.
Over the past two decades, Southern Cross Taekwon-do has become an integral part of the Botany community. While originating in Botany, the school has grown and expanded to include training centres in Sydney, far north NSW, and even Switzerland. The dedication to providing high-quality Taekwon-do instruction has earned them a strong reputation locally and internationally.
