Southend-on-Sea Swimming Club (SOSSC), brought to life by Sam Wilkinson in 1894, originally trained in a 50-yard open-air pool on Westcliff seafront. Today, this site hosts Genting Casino. In 1969, the club merged with Leigh Swimming Club, becoming Southend and Leigh Swimming Club (SALS) and relocated to Warrior Square. By the 1980s, the club proudly returned to its original name.
In 2010, the club made Southend Swimming and Diving Centre at Garon Park its new home.
