South Brisbane District Cricket Club

South Brisbane District Cricket Club, established in 1897, is a renowned cricket club located in the suburb of Fairfield in Brisbane. Known as the home of the mighty Magpies, it is one of the oldest cricket clubs in Brisbane and has a rich history of producing great cricketers. Notable players who have emerged from this club include Sam Trimble, Greg Chappell, Craig McDermott, Andrew Bichel, Ben Cutting, and Billy Stanlake. In the 2020-21 season, the club has also recruited former Australian international player Gurinder Sandhu.

The club's home ground, Fehlberg Park, is where the action takes place. It boasts the famous Norman Grey, Bob Young, and Jack Cooke ovals. South Brisbane District Cricket Club fields teams in the Queensland top Cricket competitions, participating in each of the six grades of Men's cricket. Additionally, they have a second-grade Women's team and a team in the Lord's Taverners (boys U16) competition.

The club also collaborates closely with local junior clubs to provide pathways for young players aspiring to play senior cricket.

This book continues to be updated as further information is discovered and collected, reflecting the ongoing dedication of Clayton to preserve the club's heritage.

It is important to note that records of life members prior to 1922 are not available, indicating the possibility of incomplete records or an absence of life member appointments during that time. Nevertheless, the club acknowledges the instrumental role played by many individuals in its formation and early years.

The committee of the South Brisbane District Cricket Club for the 2020-21 season consists of passionate individuals who are committed to the club's success. Brendan Gibson serves as the President, supported by Vice President Alex Robynson. Corey Curran takes on the role of Secretary, while Umhar Samsudeen ensures the financial management as the Treasurer. Other dedicated individuals on the committee include Ted Roker, Karen Curness, Hajara Wells-Peris, Savi Ilangamage, and Trent.
