Capt Nik Key, also known as Snap, has fished the Hauraki Gulf and Northland as a professional guide and skipper for the past 7 years, focusing solely on lures. He has gained extensive knowledge and has written numerous feature articles for the NZ Fishing News, particularly on finding and catching fish using lures only.
SFV offers a range of services to cater to different fishing preferences. One of their services is the Guided Lure Fishing Charter in the Hauraki Gulf. The day starts by choosing an area to fish based on the time of the year and the location of bait. Once the hungry fish are located, high-quality rods and reels are used to deploy lures and catch them.
For those who have their own boat, SFV also offers Guided Lure Fishing on your boat. Capt Nik Key will come out on your boat and set you up for success. He will teach you how to find and catch fish using lures only, and will bring all the necessary equipment for the day, including lures, rods, reels, and a sea anchor.
In addition to fishing in the Hauraki Gulf, SFV also offers Guided Lure Fishing Charters in Northland. Based at Marsden Cove, they explore the Bream Bay and beyond to find workups, bait, and areas that hold fish.
SFV has a range of boats to accommodate different group sizes. They have a luxury 48ft Scott Robson boat that can take up to 8 anglers, as well as a mid-range 7. 5mtr sports boat that can accommodate 4 anglers.

In August 2020, Nik made Northland his home and aims to share his lure fishing knowledge with the people of Northland. He has been fishing regularly in the area to learn the local fishing conditions and has successfully caught XOS snapper on lures.
