Smith Jaques Dance Studio is a well-established and family-owned dance school located in Billingham, Stockton-on-Tees, New Zealand. Founded and custom-built by Alan Smith and Hazel Jaques in 1960, the studio continues to be managed by Beverley Wood and Heather Smith.

The dance studio boasts a Canadian maple sprung floor, ensuring a high-quality dancing experience for all students. Additionally, there is a lounge bar available for members and guests to relax and socialise in between classes.

The Smith Jaques Team is composed of highly qualified dance teachers who are all members of the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association), a renowned teaching and examination board operating in 55 countries. This accreditation ensures that students are in capable hands and receiving top-notch instruction. The team includes partners Beverley Wood and Heather Smith, as well as Susan Smith, Phil Wood, Toni Hughes, Danielle Rowe, and Pamela Riley.

Smith Jaques Dance Studio offers a wide range of dance styles to cater to various interests and skill levels. The popular dance styles taught at the studio include Ballroom and Latin American dancing, offering classes in the Social Foxtrot, Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Quickstep, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, and Jive. Additionally, the studio provides instruction in Classical and Modern Sequence dances, which encompass a variety of step sequences in Ballroom, Latin American, and Old Time styles. Personal lessons and wedding first dance preparation are also available, allowing students to refine their skills or prepare for special events.

For those interested in a more energetic and vibrant style, the studio offers Salsa classes that fuse Caribbean rhythms with hot Latino music, creating a tropical and exciting atmosphere on the dance floor. For those looking to explore the mystery and magic of Tango, Smith Jaques Dance Studio offers Tango classes, immersing dancers in the enchanting world of Argentina and the bustling streets of Buenos Aires.

The studio also provides opportunities for students to participate in competitions. This includes the IDTA Medallist of the Year competitions, which cater to all age groups and various dance styles such as Ballroom, Latin American, Modern Sequence, and Classical Sequence. Additionally, the Supadance League offers both team and individual competitions for Juvenile, Junior, Adult, and Senior sections, fostering a team-oriented and fun environment.

Smith Jaques Dance Studio also offers a range of classes and lessons for adults and children alike. Adult classes include Ballroom and Latin American Easytime Dancing, Adult Latin In Line Class, Medallist Competition Class, Adult Intermediate Class, Intermediate Social Dance Class, Social Dance Evening, New Beginners Social Dance Class, Social Sequence Class, Supadance Class, IDTA Medallist Sequence Class, and Social Dance Evening. Private lessons for adults are available upon appointment, allowing for personalised instruction and convenient scheduling.

Children's classes include Rosette and Stardance Competition Class, Medallist Ballroom and Latin American Class (IDTA Graded), Diddy Dancers Class, Juvenile Supadance Class, Junior Supadance Class, and IDTA Medallist Sequence Class. Private lessons for children are also available by appointment.
