Skipton Ju-Jitsu Club

Welcome to Skipton Ju-Jitsu Club, located in the beautiful town of Skipton in North Yorkshire. Skipton Ju-Jitsu Club is a martial arts school that welcomes beginners of all ages and abilities. In fact, your first lesson is absolutely free, so you can come and experience the benefits of Ju-Jitsu without any commitment.

At Skipton Ju-Jitsu Club, we offer training at all levels in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Our classes are suitable for both juniors and seniors, and we even offer family training on Saturday mornings. So, whether you're a parent looking to train with your child or an individual looking for a new way to get fit and build self-confidence, our club is the perfect place for you.

The history of Skipton Ju-Jitsu Club dates back to the early 1970s when it was founded by Sensei Robert Ashworth. Over the years, Sensei Ashworth opened Ju-Jitsu clubs throughout Yorkshire and Lancashire, eventually forming his own organisation called RA Defence. Today, under the leadership of Senseis Craig Barson, Mel Seward, and Phil Harrison, the club operates under the name “Rose Counties Ju-Jitsu” and is affiliated with the Cobra Martial Arts Association.

Our instructors at Skipton Ju-Jitsu Club are highly trained and qualified to meet the standards set by the Martial Arts Standards Agency. They also hold the appropriate First Aid qualifications and are checked through the Government Disclosure & Barring Service, ensuring the safety and well-being of all our members. We operate an equal opportunities policy and strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone.

Membership at Skipton Ju-Jitsu Club is just 20 for the first year and 15 per year thereafter. This membership fee includes 3rd party insurance coverage, providing an added layer of protection for our members.

We also offer a limited-time offer for families. If two family members from the same household train together, one person trains for free. This means that it will only cost 5 for both individuals. Please note that this offer is valid until December 31st, 2024, and the normal fee applies if one person is unable to attend training.

Our club follows the progressive grading system authorised by the Cobra Martial Arts Association. This system ensures that all members, regardless of their ability to take a formal grading, can progress and be assessed individually over time. The standards required to pass each syllabus requirement are high, ensuring that our members are constantly challenged and improving their Ju-Jitsu skills.
