Skewen Karate Club

Skewen Karate Club, located in Neath, is a martial arts club offering traditional Wado Kai Karate classes. With a strong emphasis on self-defence and personal growth, Skewen Karate Club provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals of all ages and fitness levels to learn and excel in the art of karate.

Wado Kai Karate is a fusion of traditional Okinawan Karate and Shindo Yoshin-Ryu Ju-Jitsu. Known as the “Way of Peace,” this martial art incorporates a combination of punches, kicks, blocks, and strikes to develop coordination, agility, strength, and poise. Through rigorous training and discipline, students also cultivate self-confidence and a positive self-image.

At Skewen Karate Club, Wado Kai Karate is taught traditionally, which focuses less on physical strength and more on technique and skill. This approach enables students of all ages to participate, making it a family-friendly environment where students can train alongside their peers and progress at their own pace.

Unlike many other martial arts clubs, Skewen Karate Club is committed to individual progress rather than competition among students. Each student is encouraged to strive for personal growth and improvement, without being compared to others. This inclusive approach means that anyone, regardless of age, fitness level or prior experience, can join Skewen Karate Club and start their karate journey.

The classes at Skewen Karate Club are held every Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Carnegie Hall. Both children and adults are welcome to attend and there are no long-term contracts or commitments required. The fees are affordable, with a “pay per lesson” basis of 2. 50 per class.

This flexible payment structure allows individuals to easily fit karate training into their busy schedules.
