Fly Manilla is a sports club located in the Tamworth Regional Council area, offering a range of paragliding activities and services. As Australia's only world-class paragliding facility and flying site, Fly Manilla provides a unique and comprehensive training experience that surpasses minimum standards.
At their base on Mt Borah, which has four launches catering to almost all wind directions, Fly Manilla offers 9+ day live-in paragliding licence courses. These courses cover all aspects of paragliding, including high flights, ridge soaring, and thermalling. The instructors at Fly Manilla prioritise competence and instilling confidence in their students, recognising that paragliding is not just a leisure activity but an aviation pursuit. The course costs $2690 and includes all necessary equipment, on-site transport, accommodation, $140 SAFA compulsory Aviation Liability Insurance, and a $400 equipment purchase credit.
Additionally, students benefit from exclusive discounts on equipment, both new and used.
In addition to licence courses, Fly Manilla provides tandem instructional flights from October to March, allowing individuals to experience the thrill of paragliding under the supervision of experienced pilots.
The Chief Flying Instructor at Fly Manilla, Godfrey Wenness, boasts an extensive background in paragliding, with 25 years of experience as an instructor and numerous records to his name. He also developed and owns Mt Borah, recognised as one of the world's best flying sites. To cater to a wider range of individuals, Fly Manilla offers various course options and availability throughout the year. Novice pilot licence courses are available during the Spring of 2023 and Autumn of 2024, while Thermalling clinics, including the basic XC licence upgrade, are offered during the Summer of 2023/24. Private 1:1 and small group licence courses are also available upon request.
