Experience the newly constructed cross-country single trails in the Kauri Block area of Ride Coromandel Bike Park. Once a site of gold mining claims, this area is now being transformed into a regenerating bush with exciting bike trails. Opening in mid-2021, these trails will offer two loops for riders to enjoy.
The smaller flow focused loop will head towards the west, while the longer and more technical loop will head south. The longer loop will treat riders to breathtaking views of the islands and Coromandel township before flowing downhill across the face of the old Bunker’s Hill mine site and towards the picturesque Coromandel Harbour.
Designed with intermediate riders in mind, the grade three technical rating trails are 1.5 meters wide and meant to be ridden in a one-way direction. We have taken great care to consider the historical significance of the site and have worked closely with local Iwi Te Patukirkiri and the Department of Conservation to ensure the trails are carefully managed and the site's preservation is upheld.
In order to maintain the cultural significance of the area, we kindly ask that riders stay on the designated trails and refrain from crossing between tracks or venturing beyond the bike park limits. At the entrance of the trails, you'll find a Kauri Dieback wash station specifically created for cycles and riders. We encourage all riders to come to the park with clean bikes to minimise any potential soil movement and protect the natural environment.
We would also like to extend an invitation to all volunteers who wish to participate in planting activities around the Pump track area. These activities will commence in June, and your help is greatly appreciated as we continue to enhance the beauty of this unique site.
So, whether you're a seasoned rider or new to the sport, we invite you to join us for a thrilling biking experience in this one-of-a-kind location. See you at Ride Coromandel Bike Park!
