Shrivenham Football Club, located in Swindon, has a rich history that dates back to its formation in 1900. In just eight years, the club became one of the founder members of the North Berks League. While success was initially hard to come by, the team's fortunes changed in the mid-1990s when they won the Second Division crown at the end of the 1994-95 season. This success was followed by two Division One Championships in 1997-98, which included winning the Charity Shield, and again in 2000-01.
The latter season saw the club promoted to the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One West after completing required ground improvements.
Shrivenham FC's inaugural Hellenic League season ended with a creditable twelfth-place finish. The club then went through a period of building and gained stability in the league. In the 2004-05 season, the team won the league by a single point, securing promotion to the Hellenic premier Division. This season is often regarded as the most amazing and memorable in the club's history.
In 2007-08, the club achieved a record-breaking eighth-place finish in the Hellenic premier Division.
However, a gradual decline followed, and the team faced relegation in the 2014-15 season as they finished in nineteenth place. After a decade of Hellenic premier League football, the club entered a tough era. Two seasons of mid-table performances followed, until a new Chairman was appointed ahead of the 2017-18 campaign. This was followed by the introduction of a new management team, signalling the beginning of a rebuilding phase and ambitions to return to the Hellenic leading Division.
In their first attempt to gain promotion, Shrivenham FC ended the 2017-18 season with an impressive 12-game unbeaten run, finishing in second place. On an exciting final day of the season, Shrivvy's promotion rivals, Easington Sports, suffered defeat against a mid-table Letcombe side, and Shrivenham FC held on to secure promotion. The rebuilding efforts continued, and by the end of the 2018-19 season, the club achieved its record finish of fifth place.
The 2019-20 season saw the team in fourth position when it was curtailed early due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Manager Gareth Davies stepped down, and Chris Hurley was appointed as his successor shortly before the next season was due to start. The club faced a difficult start, but with the arrival of new players, things began to look up. However, the preseason ahead of the 2021-22 campaign brought back memories of the previous challenging season.
In a bid to continue moving forward, Rob and Dan Broadbank were appointed as managers.
In the current season, Shrivenham Football Club has made the move to the Wiltshire Senior League. The first team competes in the top division under the guidance of experienced coaches Glenn Horsell, Steven Hendry, and Matty Horsell. The club's development team competes in division one, boasting a youthful squad. This season is expected to be a year of growth and progression for the club.
