Plymstock Bowling Club, a prominent Lawn Bowls club in Plymouth, offers the popular activity of Short Mat Bowls at their clubhouse from October to April. Whether you prefer daytime or evening sessions, the club has got you covered. With newly installed 'New' overhead lighting, visibility is improved on the two mats provided.
During the evening sessions, participants have the added advantage of the Club Bar being open, creating a perfect atmosphere for socialising with teammates, opponents, and other club members. Roll-up sessions are available at various times, starting from 10:00 AM and concluding at 1:45 PM. If you fancy bowling later in the day, there's another session from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM waiting for you.
For those more experienced in the sport, joining teams and participating in the day or evening leagues is a fantastic opportunity. The leagues are thoughtfully split into First and Second Divisions, providing players of all skill levels with fair chances to compete.
But that's not all! Plymstock Bowling Club also organises exciting annual competitions, such as the Short Mat Charity Day in February. This special event supports numerous local charities, giving an opportunity for participants to contribute to the community while showcasing their skills. Additionally, the club hosts three internal tournaments; the Blanche Sampson Trophy, the Wally Lang Trophy, and the Friendly Trophy. These tournaments offer a friendly and competitive environment for players to demonstrate their abilities.
To add to the excitement, friendly matches are arranged throughout the season with other local clubs. It's a great chance to meet fellow bowlers and build connections within the Lawn Bowls community.
Established in 1936, Plymstock Bowling Club maintains its affiliation with DSMBA (Devon and Southern Counties Short Mat Bowling Association). This affiliation solidifies the club's commitment to promoting and nurturing the sport.
