Shogun Traditional Shotokan Karate Academy

Welcome to the Shogun Traditional Shotokan Karate Academy, the first Karate school in Cheshire! Established 54 years ago in 1968, our academy takes pride in offering the highest quality Karate instruction in the Crewe area. Head Instructors Syl Walsh, 5th Dan, and Paul Kotowski, 6th Dan, possess a combined experience of over 100 years in the art of Karate.

At the Shogun Traditional Shotokan Karate Academy, we are committed to guiding our students towards achieving excellence. Our primary objective is to instil self-confidence and self-motivation in our students by providing them with the guidance and expertise of our black belt instructors. Our ultimate goal is for every student to become a black belt themselves.

To assess our students' progress, we conduct gradings every 3 months. During these evaluations, students are tested on various aspects of Karate, including kata (sequences of movements) and sparring. Our instructors carefully observe each student, noting their strengths and weaknesses, and collectively determine if they have successfully attained their new grade and belt. Furthermore, our instructors are fully insured and have undergone DBS checks to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.

As a testament to our commitment to the growth and development of our students, we have a junior black belt who is advancing towards the instructor's course. This demonstrates the potential for long-term progression and future leadership within our academy.
