Shito-Ryu Nippon Karate-Do Kai India in Tamil Nadu, Chennai, is a nonprofit association committed to preserving and promoting the authentic teachings of Seito Shito-Ryu Karate-Do. Under the esteemed guidance of Shihan K. Shankar, this school remains directly affiliated with Shito-Ryu International Karate-Do Kai in Japan, ensuring a genuine and enriching martial arts experience for all enthusiasts.
The club cherishes its heritage, stemming from the teachings of the late Kenzo Mabuni Soke, the son of Shito-Ryu founder Kenwa Mabuni (1889-1952). Following the passing of Hanshi A. Govindhrajan in 2009, Shihan K. Shankar was appointed by Tsukasa Mabuni Soke as the official representative for India. This lineage emphasizes a commitment to the purest form of Shito-Ryu, providing an authentic experience for practitioners.
