Shinkondo Dojo

At Shinkondo Dojo believe in the importance of devoted practise to bring the mysteries of the Art of Peace to life, as stated by Morihei Ueshiba. Located in Yeronga, Australia, our dojo offers training in Ki Aikido and its associated practises.

We welcome individuals of all skill levels to come and try Ki Aikido for themselves. Our training is focused on producing confident, capable, relaxed, and alert individuals who are empowered in self-defence and handling stressful situations. Through Ki Aikido, students can experience benefits such as self-confidence, increased awareness, relaxation and reduced stress, better physical coordination, and improved health and well-being.

Our training curriculum includes both empty-handed and weapons techniques, as well as meditation, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and mind and body coordination. We offer a variety of classes throughout the week, including general classes and kids' classes for ages 6 to 12.

Our training sessions take place at the Yeronga scout hall, which provides a spacious training space along with kitchen and toilet facilities for our students' convenience. The dojo operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with general classes running from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and kids' classes from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

We strive to make our training accessible to all, and our prices reflect this commitment. Adults pay $15 per class, while children and concession holders pay $10. We also offer a block of 10 adult classes for $130. At Shinkondo Dojo, family members training together pay the concession price, and when four or more family members are training together, the maximum price per class is $35.

Our class fees cover all costs, and we do not charge separate membership, grading, or insurance fees.

At our dojo, we cultivate an atmosphere of cooperation, mutual respect, and fun rather than competition. We believe that teaching is an opportunity for both the teacher and the student to learn and grow. In line with this philosophy, our training sessions prioritise co-operation to create a positive learning environment.
