The club's ethos is built on the foundation of these five aspects, ensuring a comprehensive study of swordsmanship.
Training at Cairnhill CC Shinkendo Singapore includes rigorous practise of Suburi for mastering basic sword movements, correct footwork, and body movement. Tanrengata focuses on solo forms and movement mechanics, emphasising fluid movement, graceful balance shifting, and effective body and sword mechanics. Battoho teaches combative sword draws and sheathing techniques, while Tachiuchi involves structured sparring with a partner. The club also practises Tameshigiri, allowing students to test their cutting skills with a live blade.
