Shinka Karate

Shinka Karate is a renowned karate school located in Ilford, specifically in the Barkingside and Collier Row areas of Essex, United Kingdom. Led by the highly experienced Chief Instructor Sensei Mark Green, who holds a 4th Dan black belt, the school offers top-notch training for both adults and children aged 4 and above.

The Barkingside dojo, situated at IRDSA Hall on Craven Gardens, is the primary training facility for Shinka Karate. Classes are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Shinka Karate welcomes students of all skill levels, including beginners. The school offers a free introductory lesson to give newcomers a taste of what their training entails. With a focus on karate, kobudo (traditional weapons training), self-defence, and fitness, Shinka Karate provides a well-rounded training curriculum.

In addition to regular karate classes, Shinka Karate also offers separate weapons training classes every Tuesday in collaboration with Seishan Karate. These specialised classes cover a variety of weapons, including nunchaku, jo (4ft staff), bo (6ft staff), bokken (Japanese wooden sword used for training), katana (Japanese “samurai” sword), tanto (Japanese “short blade” knife), wakizashi (Japanese “side inserted” sword), sai, tonfa, yawara bo, and kama.
