Shining Stars Dance Academy (SSDA) in Leicester is dedicated to helping students reach their full potential. With a wide range of classes available, including Tap, Ballet, Freestyle, Gymnastic Dance, Tricks and Tumbling, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, and Stage, SSDA aims to cater to each child's individual needs. The principles at SSDA are qualified members of the International Dance Teacher's Association (IDTA), and students have the opportunity to take exams with this prestigious board.
Aside from exams, SSDA also offers various performance opportunities such as annual shows and local competitions. Regardless of age or ability, students can start attending classes at SSDA from as young as 2 and a half years old. The focus at SSDA is to make classes fun and enjoyable for all students, creating a positive yet structured environment.
SSDA has a diverse schedule with classes offered throughout the week. On Mondays, there are classes like Tricks and Tumbling and Stage for all ages, starting from 4:00pm. Saturdays offer a range of classes from Baby/Prep Tap and Ballet to Junior/Inter Musical Theatre and Senior Freestyle.
The school was founded in 2009 by Miss Laura and Miss Amy, both qualified members of the IDTA and passionate about dance. They have performed in local venues such as The Y Theatre and Concordia Theatre, but their true passion lies in teaching others. As mothers themselves, they bring a caring and nurturing approach to the school, aiming to create a welcoming and friendly environment with a family feel. This ethos has been recognised by many parents who choose SSDA for their children.
Miss Jaime, a student teacher at SSDA, is working towards her teaching qualifications with the IDTA. She has a BTEC Level 3 Extending Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) and a passion for teaching, following in her mother's footsteps. In addition, SSDA is fortunate to have a team of committed seniors who assist the teachers and have their own aspirations of becoming student teachers. Each week, Miss Abi, Miss Courtney, and Miss Liv lend their talents and gain valuable experience.
Even outside the dance studio, SSDA maintains a strong connexion with its students and parents. Aisha Boothby, a parent, praises the academy for its supportive and caring staff, as well as the opportunities for students to be involved in shows and events.
If you're interested in learning to dance, having fun, and meeting new people, SSDA welcomes all inquiries. The academy looks forward to getting back to you as soon as possible and helping you embark on your dance journey.
