Shindo Karate Association Derrimut Heath is a reputable Karate school located in Hoppers Crossing, Victoria. Led by experienced instructors Shihan Ray Vella and Sensei Alex Vorgiatzidis, the dojo is dedicated to promoting the core values of karate and providing quality instruction to students of all fitness levels, from 4 years old to 70 years young.
With over 50 years of combined teaching and training experience, Sensei Alex and Shihan Ray have produced numerous black belts who embody self-discipline and confidence. Classes at Derrimut Heath Dojo are held at Derrimut Heath Primary School, conveniently located at 31 Sycamore Street, Hoppers Crossing. The school provides a spacious and well-equipped facility for students to train in.
The dojo offers a variety of classes tailored to different age groups and skill levels. The Little Ninjas programme is specifically designed for children aged 4 to 5 years and 6 to 7 years, focusing on developing basic karate skills and instilling discipline. Junior classes cater to beginners and more advanced students, while senior classes provide a challenging experience for those looking to further refine their skills.
In addition to regular karate classes, Derrimut Heath Dojo also offers specialised classes such as Tournament Sparring and KOBUDO Weapons for students interested in competition and traditional weapons training. The dojo's timetable accommodates various schedules, with classes held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Shihan Ray Vella, a 5th Dan Black Belt, serves as the Senior Instructor at Derrimut Heath Dojo. He brings 36+ years of experience to his teachings and holds a 2nd Dan in Kobudo, making him well-rounded in both traditional karate techniques and weapons training. Shihan Ray is also a co-founder of Shindo Karate Association and holds Level 1 NCAS Coaching Accreditation, ensuring high-quality instruction.
Sensei Alex Vorgiatzidis, a 4th Dan Black Belt and Dojo Instructor, contributes his expertise and passion to the dojo. He holds a 1st Dan in Kendo and a Level 1 NCAS Coaching Accreditation. Sensei Alex is committed to creating a positive and enriching learning environment for all students.
