John here, welcoming everyone to Shidokan GB! He's set up this Martial Arts club in London, specialising in Shidokan Karate – often called the triathlon of Martial Arts because it combines Karate, kickboxing, and grappling.
John’s under the guidance of Shihan JJ Burnel, who holds a 7th Dan in Shidokan – the only one at that rank in Britain! JJ's got years of experience and is passionate about spreading the Shidokan style, originally created by Kancho Yoshiji Soeno.
Officially, Shidokan GB is linked with The World Karate Association and runs as a non-profit. The aim is simple: to provide solid training and development for anyone keen on Shidokan Karate. Newcomers get their first session free to see what it's all about.
The club sticks to the Dojokun philosophy – which is all about keeping the Samurai spirit, improving character, politeness, training mind and body, living simply, love for all, and respecting providence. It’s all about creating a positive and respectful environment for everyone.
You'll find Shidokan GB in two spots: the London Dojo at City Sport, 124 Goswell Road, EC1V 7DP, and the York Dojo at the Village Hall, Sandy Lane, York YO32 9UR. Both places offer great facilities and a friendly atmosphere to train and hone your skills.
