Shepshed Swimming Club is a family-friendly swimming club located in Loughborough, New Zealand. Established in 1972, the club is currently based at Iveshead School swimming pool in Shepshed. Shepshed Swimming Club is Swim Mark accredited, ensuring that it provides a safe and conducive environment for young people to develop and grow in their swimming capabilities.
The club caters to swimmers of all levels, from those who are new to competition swimming to experienced County swimmers. The club prides itself on being family-oriented, welcoming both children and their parents to be a part of the swimming community. All volunteers and helpers involved with the club are DBS checked, aligning with child protection guidelines.
Swimmers interested in joining the club must be aged 7 or above and be able to swim a length of the pool unassisted, demonstrating proficiency in breaststroke, freestyle, and backstroke. The club offers coaching and support to help swimmers improve their technique and develop their swimming skills.
Shepshed Swimming Club actively participates in various swimming events and competitions. Information regarding upcoming galas and events is communicated through the club's Facebook page, email, and notice board poolside. The club competes in the Leicestershire Autumn, Winter, and Diddy leagues, as well as the Leicestershire county age groups and championships. Additionally, regular friendly galas are organised within the county.
The club is managed by a dedicated committee, consisting of a chairperson, vice-chairperson, club secretary, treasurer, membership secretary, fixture secretary, and social secretary. The committee members work collaboratively to ensure the smooth functioning of the club and create a welcoming environment for all members.
Shepshed Swimming Club is currently searching for a Head Coach to join their team. The position is located at Iveshead Swimming Pool in Shepshed and requires the coach to be available on Monday, Thursday, and Friday evenings for 5–10 hours per week. The coach will be responsible for planning training programmes, overseeing their delivery to swimmers, and coordinating the coaching team. The successful candidate must hold a Swim Coach (level 2) qualification or be working towards it, as well as have relevant coaching experience.
A D. B. S check and Child SafeGuarding training are also required.
