Arangetram, or solo debut performance, and she continues to be an active member of the dance community in Vancouver. Alicia also has a background in acting, having studied at the Lyric School of Acting and performed in various theatre productions.

Shakti Dance Society is a vibrant and inclusive dance school located in Vancouver, BC. Specializing in the ancient art form of Bharata Natyam, Shakti Dance offers classes for all levels, from beginners to advanced dancers. Led by experienced instructor Anusha Fernando, students have the opportunity to learn and connect with this sacred dance tradition.

The roots of Bharata Natyam run deep, with origins in the temples of South India where it was performed as an offering to the gods. Today, Bharata Natyam has evolved into a highly revered classical dance form that is practised and performed by people around the world. At Shakti Dance, students not only learn the rigorous technique of Bharata Natyam, but also explore spiritual themes and develop discipline and grace through their practice.

Shakti Dance Society offers a range of classes, including private, semi-private, small group, and children's instruction. Whether students are looking to pursue Bharata Natyam at a professional level or simply enjoy it recreationally, there is a class for everyone. With a focus on intermediate technique classes and workshops, dancers of all backgrounds and experiences are welcome to join and expand their knowledge and skills.
