Seasalter Sailing Club, led by Sarah, is a welcoming spot on the North Kent coast, just west of Whitstable. It's perfect for both seasoned sailors and complete beginners looking to join a friendly sailing community.
The clubhouse, located next to the sea wall, offers stunning views across Whitstable Bay. Members can conveniently store their boats in a field nearby, with easy access to a gently sloping beach.
Sarah ensures there’s something for everyone. Beginners can benefit from informal coaching and buddying with experienced sailors. There are also great crewing opportunities available. For those wanting a bit more training, an RYA Level 2 certificate from Dover Watersports Centre or similar is recommended before joining.
Sailing takes place weekends from March to November, plus some weekdays in the summer. The shallow sea allows around 2 hours of sailing each side of high tide.
The club welcomes a variety of dinghies and catamarans, but not keelboats or powerboats. With two racing fleets based on PY ratings, everyone gets to compete fairly.
Sarah also coordinates fun social events throughout the year for both sailors and non-sailing family members. There’s convenient parking next door, and members can use the storage and camping field.
If you're keen to join, pop by the club or send an email to learn more. Sarah and the community at Seasalter Sailing Club can't wait to welcome you!
