A key highlight is their flagship vessel, Blue Mermaid, a traditional Thames sailing barge purpose-built for the charity. Launched in 2019, Blue Mermaid operates without an engine, offering an authentic sail training experience. It runs mainly on solar power, and the trust offsets the minimal carbon emissions produced, showing their commitment to sustainability.

During these residential voyages, participants live aboard Blue Mermaid, guided by three experienced staff members. They engage in all onboard activities, including sail handling, windlass winding, rigging climbing, and steering. Sea-Change Sailing Trust ensures a safe and inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of their prior sailing experience.

As a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training and Sailability Foundation centre, the trust’s voyages maintain high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism. Some trips also support the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential programme, showcasing their dedication to youth development.
