SEABEES FISHING CLUB is a non-profit social/fishing club located in the Hills district of Sydney. With over 100 members, including men, women, teenagers, and young children, the club prides itself on being a family-friendly organisation. The club recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, showcasing its longstanding commitment to fostering a love for fishing and creating a supportive community for anglers of all ages.
One of the main attractions of the club is the regular fishing outings. Many members own boats, providing ample opportunities for beach or lake fishing. For those who do not own a boat, there is the option to fish as a crew member with other club members, allowing them to try out different boats before making a purchase. The club encourages family participation, and upon becoming a member, all family members, including grandchildren, automatically become members of the club.
It is common for family members to attend outings, particularly during weekends away outside Sydney, which often take place at lakes and dams.
In addition to fishing outings, SEABEES FISHING CLUB organises various events and competitions to engage members. The club has an annual competition format, with the introduction of the 4-Square competitions in 2023-24. These competitions add an exciting element to the club's activities, providing members with more opportunities to showcase their angling skills and compete amongst themselves.
President's Day is a highly anticipated event on the club's calendar. Held on Saturday 22nd July, attendees can enjoy a day of fishing followed by a BBQ back at the ramp for lunch. Even if fishing isn't your forte, you are more than welcome to join for the BBQ and socialise with fellow members. For more information and to confirm attendance, members can contact the coordinator, Mark Formosa.
SEABEES FISHING CLUB holds monthly meetings at the Crestwood Community Centre in Baulkham Hills. These meetings, which take place on the second Wednesday of the month, are open to all members, including men, women, and children. Non-member visitors and guests are also warmly welcomed to attend. The meetings serve as a platform for members to connect, discuss fishing techniques, and share experiences.
The doors open at around 7:30pm, and the meeting officially begins at 7:45pm.
As a responsible fishing club, SEABEES FISHING CLUB prioritises safety on the water. To promote boat safety, the club organises a yearly “Boat Safety Inspection Day. ” Maritime NSW is invited to inspect the boats and ensure compliance with safety regulations. The day also includes informative sessions to educate members on the latest safety tips and legislation.
SEABEES FISHING CLUB is affiliated with the Australian National Sportsfishing Association (ANSA). As an ANSA member, the club actively participates in ANSA fishing competitions. Additionally, the club holds its own internal club competitions, which include categories such as Sub Junior Champion Angler, Junior Champion Angler, Lady Champion Angler, Open Champion Angler, and more. The club also runs the Annual Lake Lyell competition, a highly anticipated event for its members.
With its dedication to providing a supportive and inclusive fishing community, SEABEES FISHING CLUB continues to thrive in Baulkham Hills. The club's commitment to fostering a love for fishing amongst members of all ages and skill levels makes it a standout organisation in the Australian fishing scene. Whether you are a seasoned angler or just starting to explore the world of fishing, SEABEES FISHING CLUB welcomes you to join their community and enjoy the many benefits of being a member.
