Get ready to hit the water and explore the stunning coastlines of Essex with Maldon Canoe Club. If you're a fan of canoeing or kayaking, this event is perfect for you. We have access to various estuaries, including the Thames at Southend, Crouch at Burnham, Blackwater at Bradwell, and the Deben and Orwell on the Essex Suffolk border, offering a wide range of options for your paddling adventures.
Whether you prefer calm waters or crave the excitement of challenging conditions, sea kayaking has something to offer everyone. Our sea kayaks, which range from 16 to 18 feet in length, are designed to provide excellent forward speed and stability. They come equipped with handy features such as sealed hatches for storage, built-in compasses for navigation, and deck lines for towing. If you're new to the sport, we recommend taking advantage of our demo days to try out different boats or asking our club paddlers for a test ride. We also have boats available for loan and can offer guidance in choosing the right equipment for your needs.
Safety is our top priority at Maldon Canoe Club. Our experienced coaches carefully assess sea conditions, taking into consideration factors such as wind, tide, and coastline, to ensure the safety and comfort of the entire group. We paddle locally from various locations, including Bradwell, Burnham, Fambridge, Heybridge, Mersea, Felixstowe, Dovercourt, and Shoeburyness. And if you're up for a bigger adventure, we've organised trips outside the county to breathtaking destinations like the Isle of Wight, Swanage, Anglesey, Norfolk, and Farne Island.
At Maldon Canoe Club, you'll find a team of British Canoeing qualified coaches and award providers who are passionate about supporting your development in canoeing or kayaking. We offer safety training and first aid courses to ensure you are well-prepared for any situation. With several sea leaders in our club, we have the legal qualifications needed to lead trips for less experienced paddlers. Our coaches are also available to train and assess paddlers for the British Canoeing Kayak Award, which will enhance your skills for safe sea and estuary exploration.
