Scuba Time Ltd, a Scuba Diving club based in Bishop's Stortford, is excited to offer the PADI Open Water Course. This course is the first full certifying course in the PADI diving education system and provides a fantastic opportunity to take scuba diving lessons and explore the wonders beneath the waves. It is the world's most popular and widely recognised scuba course, with millions of people having learned to scuba dive through it.
The PADI Open Water Course is suitable for individuals aged 10 years or older, who have sufficient swimming skills and good physical health. No prior scuba diving experience is required, making it accessible to beginners.
This course is conducted over two weekends. Upon booking, participants will receive the PADI Open Water Crew Pack which contains the necessary home study materials. The course consists of five theory modules, followed by a final exam. Participants will then progress to the confined water modules conducted at our pool location, where they will be introduced to approximately 24 skills that need to be mastered through five pool dives.
The following weekend, participants will have the opportunity to complete four open water qualifying dives in our training lake. This stunning location features sunken attractions such as a Double Decker bus, aeroplanes, and boats, adding an extra level of excitement to the diving experience. Rest assured, one-on-one supervision will be provided throughout all four open water dives, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
The course duration includes independent home study using a book and video or CD Rom, two days for theory modules and the final exam, as well as the confined water modules in our pool location, and two days for open water training in our training lake or coastal session. No prior diving experience is necessary, but participants must be able to swim 200 meters non-stop using any swimming style and tread water for 10 minutes. Additionally, a medical statement attached to the booking form must be completed.
The price for the PADI Open Water Course is £499. This includes academic materials (including a DVD), swimming pool entrance fees, PADI certification fee, and air fills. However, please note that dive site entry fees are not included. To participate, participants are required to bring a swim suit, towel, and 2 passport-sized photographs. During the theory session, participants will have the opportunity to see and learn about the dive gear that will be used throughout the course. While it is required for all students to have their own mask & snorkel, short wetsuit & boots for hygiene reasons, Scuba Time Ltd offers a discounted rate if booked on a course with them.
