Scuba Diving club, Divers Den, is thrilled to announce an exciting event for kids in Parramatta Park – Scuba Kids. This fantastic program is designed for children aged 8 years and over, offering them a safe and exhilarating underwater adventure.
Held at our top-notch dive centre in Cairns, Scuba Kids is a half-day program endorsed by PADI, providing children with the opportunity to learn the basics of scuba diving and try it for themselves. No previous experience is required, making it perfect for kids who are interested in diving but haven't had the chance to give it a go yet.
During the program, children will receive a quick training session on land and will be fitted with kid-size scuba equipment. Then, they will take the plunge into our heated dive pool, experiencing the thrill of breathing underwater for the first time.
Scuba Kids is suitable for any child aged 8–11 years who feels comfortable in the water. At the end of the program, participants will receive an official certificate of participation from PADI, commemorating their exciting scuba diving journey.
To ensure the safety of all participants, Scuba Kids sessions are held on Sundays, with two sessions per day, each lasting 3 hours. Children must be aged 8 years or older, and parental approval is required. Before booking, participants must also meet the medical questionnaire requirements outlined on our 'Can I Dive' page.
Rest assured, all the necessary scuba diving equipment will be provided for the program. Participants only need to bring their swimsuit and a towel. The program itinerary includes check-in and orientation, a dive briefing and breathing rules session, snorkelling and swimming in the pool, a Great Barrier Reef quiz, a scuba session, and a certificate presentation. Parents are required to be present during the check-in and orientation part of the session to assist with signing paperwork, but they can pick up their children after the certificate presentation.
Please keep in mind that certain medical conditions, such as asthma and ADD medication, may prevent children from participating in the program. Each participant must fill out a medical statement, and we encourage those with any queries to contact us before booking.
For children aged 10 and over who are confident in the water, completing the Scuba Kids program opens up the possibility of pursuing their Junior Open Water Diver certification, which starts from $939. Moreover, for those looking to dive on the Great Barrier Reef, we offer a variety of PADI Open Water Diver Courses.
