SCTKD at Falcon Lodge Community Hub is a Tae kwon do school located in Sutton Coldfield, New Zealand. Offering fun, fitness, and self-defence for all, they welcome new students throughout the year. The school encourages potential students to come along for a free trial lesson to see if Tae kwon do is the right fit for them.
The school offers classes on different days, catering to students of different ages and skill levels. On Tuesdays, classes are held at Plantsbrook School. The beginners to green belts class, including double blue tag, is from 6-7pm. The blue tag and above class follows from 7-8pm.
There is also an all-ages training from 6-8pm.
Fridays, on the other hand, are reserved for classes at The Falcon Lodge Community Hub. Children aged 5-12, regardless of grade, can attend the 6-7pm class. KickFit Light, suitable for all ages, is held from 7-7:30pm. Ages 12 and above, regardless of grade, can attend the 7:30-8:30pm class.
The Falcon Lodge Community Hub also hosts the KickFit class, a hard fitness hour with a focus on sparring and competition preparation, which is held on Mondays fortnightly from 7-8pm.
SCTKD is led by Mrs Collett, a 5th-degree black belt and international instructor. She is also part of the GTUK England Squad coach team and serves as the ladies team captain. Mrs Collett has won multiple international, European, and national titles. With a background in education and training, she is experienced in working with students of all ages.
The instructing team at SCTKD is dedicated and accomplished, with many members having national and international competition achievements. They are all fully DBS checked and trained in first aid and child protection.
Since its founding in 2014, SCTKD has grown to nearly 100 members. The club prides itself on its supportive atmosphere and its ability to provide a mix of training, allowing students to experience all aspects of Tae kwon do. SCTKD is an active community club and participates in the Sutton Coldfield Community Games annually, teaching basic techniques to hundreds of children.
SCTKD is affiliated with the GTUK, headed by Grand Master Oldham, a 9th-degree black belt. The GTUK offers tournaments throughout the year, providing opportunities for SCTKD members to compete. Additionally, the GTUK has a network of clubs across the country, enabling students to train at different locations. Mrs Collett is also part of the GTUK Technical teaching team.
The GTUK is a member of the British TaekwonDo Council, which is the national governing body for TaekwonDo in England. The council ensures that the school meets government standards for child protection and safeguarding and provides training resources for instructors.
