Gavin, the organiser, wants everyone to know a bit more about Scotthall & Chapeltown Aikido in Leeds. The club runs purely on dedication, with instructors and members volunteering their time, making everyone feel right at home.
Aikido here is about defence, not offence, and it’s a holistic practice blending physical training with deep philosophical and spiritual elements. They focus on the Tomiki style, great for beginners with its structured techniques, but they also throw in some freestyle for those keen on competition. Plus, they mix it up with other Aikido styles for a well-rounded experience.
Classes are open to all, both kids and adults. The sessions are at Scott Hall Leisure Centre on Saturdays and Harehills Lane Baptist Church on Mondays. Kids get their turn early evening, and adults follow after.
Newbies can enjoy their first two lessons free. Afterwards, it’s £6 per session for all, no nasty grading fees sneaking up on you. It's all about keeping Aikido affordable and accessible.
If you’re up for joining, just reach out to Gavin. His contact details are on the club’s website and social media. They make sure everyone’s safe and sound, following all the necessary protocols.
Joining Scotthall & Chapeltown Aikido means boosting your skills and fitness, but it also means you’re part of a supportive, fun community. The club is all about inclusivity and helping everyone achieve their Aikido goals together.
