Scooby-Doo Too is a fishing charter located in Watchet, New Zealand. The charter was launched in May 2000 and has been in full-time service since then. The construction of the boat took 13 months, and it was built in a warehouse on the East Quay. The hull mouldings were delivered in April 1999.
Scooby-Doo Too is a Bullet DS 38, powered by a single Scania DI9 six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with a rating of 483 horsepower. The charter boasts a comfortable cabin with seating and a wheelhouse extension, providing shelter for all passengers while steaming. It also has a proper flushing WC in its own compartment on the main deck. The boat is equipped with the latest Furuno and Raytheon navigation and fish detection equipment, ensuring a successful fishing expedition.
Additionally, there is a galley area with a cooker, sink, and running fresh water for convenience. The boat features stainless steel safety rails from bow to stern, a sealed, self-draining, uncluttered, and level deck area with ample seating on the engine box. There is also a 12-inch colour TV for those who don't want to miss any important sporting moments.
Scooby-Doo Too's top speed on sea trials was 27. 3 knots running with the tide. However, the cruising speed for comfort and fuel efficiency is around 16 to 18 knots. The charter has been certified by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency for 12 passengers and 2 crew up to 60 miles from a safe haven.
The skipper holds a D. O. T Boatmasters licence covering the Bristol Channel. The vessel is insured with Navigators and General through their broker, Bristol Channel Marine Insurance Consultants.
Safety is a top priority on Scooby-Doo Too. The charter carries comprehensive safety equipment that complies with the MCA's code of practise requirements. The safety equipment is inspected annually, and in some cases, the vessel is equipped beyond the legal requirements. For example, while a single life raft is required, Scooby-Doo Too carries two rafts that are annually serviced, ensuring greater safety for passengers in the unlikely event of an emergency.
The skipper, Steve, has been fishing from Watchet Harbour since he was a child, accompanying his father on a 14' open wooden boat. His experience and knowledge of the area make him an excellent guide for anglers onboard Scooby-Doo Too.
