Scimitar Martial Arts, found in Deeside, is your go-to club for a proper martial arts bash. Whether it’s Old School Jeet Kune Do, JKD Concepts, or a mix of other styles, this place has got you covered. Martin, the brains behind it, makes sure the training gives you the full street combat experience, readying you for real-life scrapes.
What’s really cool about Scimitar Martial Arts is how Martin blends different fighting styles. Traditional arts might feel a bit outdated, and sport-based ones can be too rule-heavy. But Martin's approach picks the best bits, making sure you're prepped for the real world.
You'll train in your shoes—yeah, no more barefoot in a Gi—keeping it realistic. This practical touch is what makes Scimitar Martial Arts stand out. Fitness comes along for the ride too. Classes push your limits, making you fitter and stronger. And if you need extra help, Martin recommends hitting up Rob Paul, a top fitness trainer.
Starting 12th July, Martin's moved the action to Connah's Quay Town Council Building on Fron Road. Classes run on Mondays from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm for just £6 a pop. If you're after one-on-one coaching, Martin's got you sorted with private lessons too.
A unique twist is the Filipino Kali training, boosting not just your body but also your brain. It’s got moves that sharpen hand-eye coordination and even help stave off brain issues like Alzheimer's.
Jeet Kune Do—or JKD for the Bruce Lee fans—is all about tailoring martial arts to the person, not the other way round. Martin’s club sticks to this idea, mixing in Western fencing, Boxing, Wing Chun, Thai Boxing, Filipino arts, and Grappling like Judo.
Scimitar Martial Arts is for everyone, whether you’re just starting or a seasoned fighter. Martin’s classes push each person, offering training from conflict avoidance to street combat and even counter-terrorism.
