Carlos was inspired by Colombia’s colourful cities, where every town has its own dance or music festival. He wanted to share that infectious energy, capturing the spirit of those festivals right here in the UK.
One must-see show is “Volvio Juanita.” It’s about Juanita, a Colombian cleaner in London, who heads back home to fulfil her gran’s final wish and finds her seven lost sisters. The performance takes the audience on a dance-filled adventure through Colombia’s diverse regions.
You’ll be dancing in your seat as they start in the flatlands with the sunrise, then move to the mountains, where the air smells like brandy and coffee, and couples dance the romantic Pasillo Voliao. Next up, it's the lively Huila region with energetic dances like San Pedro and San Juanero. The show also highlights the Pacific region’s African roots with vibrant drums and salsas during the San Pacho fest.
Finally, they hit the Caribbean vibes of the famous Barranquilla Carnival, where everyone dances the cumbia. You know their motto—“QUIEN LO VIVE ES QUIEN LO GOZA”—it's all about living life to the fullest.
