SCD – Sutton Community Dance is an all-inclusive dance community located in Sutton, London. Originally established in September 2019, SCD has grown into a vibrant and welcoming dance school that offers a diverse range of classes for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. With over 650 students participating in various dance styles each week, SCD is committed to creating a space where everyone can experience the joy of dance.
The dance school occupies a spacious and well-equipped venue that was once a large Mothercare store. The facility boasts multiple studios that are staffed by a team of 16 talented and passionate dance instructors. The emphasis at SCD is on inclusivity, positivity, and bringing joy to every dance class.
SCD offers classes in a wide variety of styles, including Street, Ballroom, Latin, Tap, Ballet, Acro, Jazz, Musical Theatre, and Fitness Dance. The school's diverse programme ensures that there is something for everyone, regardless of their preferred dance style or skill level.
In addition to regular classes, SCD also hosts special events and initiatives throughout the year. During the Christmas season, the school runs a Christmas Giving campaign, with funds raised through the sale of charity Christmas cards supporting Jigsaw4U and The Salvation Army's Annual Toy Appeal. SCD is committed to giving back to the community and spreading joy during the festive season.
One of the exciting recent additions to SCD's class offerings is K-Pop classes. These classes are led by Su Young Park, a talented instructor who brings her expertise and passion for K-Pop to every session. K-Pop classes are available on Mondays and Wednesdays for high school students and adults, with additional Sunday classes starting from September 24th. Participants can choose to pay per class or include K-Pop classes in their monthly membership for even greater value.
SCD prides itself on being a supportive and caring community of dance teachers. The school is always seeking experienced and passionate instructors who align with their values of inclusion and positivity. While prior experience is valued, SCD also welcomes teachers who possess a deep passion for dance and are eager to grow and develop with the support of the school's mentorship programme.
Teachers at SCD enjoy competitive rates of pay, determined by their training and experience. The school also offers additional benefits, including reduced fees for sports rehabilitation treatment and access to rehearsal space. SCD values flexibility and encourages team members to work based on their availability and the school's teaching programme needs.
